Terms of Service

The agreement for using Bord Bank, for bankers and players alike.

Agreement

By signing in as a banker, or by taking a seat as a player, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Bord Bank is operated by Bord Bank, referred to as "we" and "us" below.

What the service is, and is not

Bord Bank is a shared scoreboard for play money in board games. Balances, payments and currencies inside the service have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for real money or anything else, and create no debt or obligation between anyone. The service is not a bank, wallet, payment system or financial product of any kind, and must not be used to track real money or real debts.

Banker accounts

Accounts are created by invitation. You may only use an account created for you, and you must give accurate details.
You are responsible for everything done with your account. Keep your password private, and consider enabling two-factor authentication or a passkey.
Tell us promptly at hello@example.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

Players and PINs

A player joins a table with the game code and the seat's PIN. Only use a seat and PIN that the banker gave to you.
Keep your PIN private. Anyone with your PIN can send money from your seat.
Players are bound by these terms while they hold a seat, even though they have no account.

Your responsibilities as a banker

You choose the names shown for players. Use only names that the people at your table are content to have displayed to the other players, and remove or rename a seat when asked.
Give each PIN to its player privately. Resetting a PIN signs out all of that player's devices.
You run your table. Disputes about a payment are settled at the table, using reversals where needed. We are not a party to those disputes.

Acceptable use

You must not:

Use the service to record, settle or represent real money, gambling or debts.
Attempt to access another banker's tables, another player's seat, or any account that is not yours.
Guess PINs or game codes, circumvent rate limits, or probe the service for weaknesses without our written permission.
Use automated tools to access the service, or place an unreasonable load on it.
Enter content into names or notes that is unlawful, abusive, or that includes other people's personal information beyond a display name.
Interfere with the service or with other users' enjoyment of it.

Game records

Every payment is recorded permanently. The service never edits or deletes a posted payment, even at our request. A mistaken payment is corrected by a reversal, which is itself recorded. Archiving a table ends player access but keeps its history. Balances are shown as posted; the service does not guarantee that they match the physical state of any game.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and may perform maintenance without notice. If live updates are unavailable, screens fall back to periodic refreshes. Do not rely on the service for anything that cannot tolerate an outage.

Fees

The service is currently provided without charge. If that changes, we will tell bankers in advance and no fee will apply to tables created before the change without your agreement.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bord Bank will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data or enjoyment, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Because the service records only play money, no loss of real money can arise from it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months and a nominal sum. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account, or revoke a seat, if these terms are broken or to protect the service and its users. You may stop using the service at any time. Bankers may delete their account from the profile page; an account that still owns tables must first have those tables removed or anonymised by us, as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections about game records, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Bord Bank is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you enjoy where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and significant changes will be announced to bankers by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
